Nazareth
RESCHEDULED FOR
MONDAY, JULY 24th

Doors 7:00pm | Show 9:00pm
Tickets starting at $29.99

The River Cree Resort and Casino has just learned that Nazareth was unable to meet their travel schedule as planned. As a result of this, the show is now rescheduled for Monday, July 24th - Doors Open at 7PM & Show starts at 9PM.

Great news! All tickets from Fridays show will be honored on Monday. Tickets are still valid with the same assigned seating layout.

Nazareth is without doubt the biggest Rock Band to emerge from Scotland. They were the pioneers who took Scottish Rock International and paved the way for the many other great Scottish bands that came later... The likes of Big Country, Simple Minds, etc.

The original members first came together in Pete Agnew's band "The Shadettes" in 1968 and changed the name to NAZARETH in 1970.

They toured with Deep Purple in the early 70's where they met Roger Glover who produced their breakthrough album RAZAMANAZ in 1973 that included the hits Broken Down Angel and Bad Bad Boy. The album was followed by Loud'n'Proud later the same year featuring the single, This Fight Tonight, which became a massive hit throughout Europe and sent the band to number 1 in Germany. It was also a huge hit in Canada where the band became the first foreign band to do a coast to coast tour of the country that wasn't just part of a North America tour. When they arrived in the country, they were told it was the fastest selling Canadian tour of all time and in fact had sold out faster than Elvis who had been there recently. As you can imagine, you can still hear a host of "faster than Elvis" jokes in Nazareth dressing rooms to this day

Michael Jackson History Show
July 29, 2017

Doors 7:00pm | Show 9:00pm
Tickets starting at $29.99

Born and raised in the Northern Cape Kimberley region of South Africa, Dantanio's musical family and gospel upbringing undoubtedly influenced him at a young age and set him on a steady path to becoming the accomplished impersonator and performer he is today. Singing and dancing from the age of nine, Dantanio accrued a vast array of performance experience through his teens and early adulthood, trying his hand at school bands, theatre, cabaret work, corporate entertainment, composing hit songs for contemporary Pop artists and even producing his own solo albums. But in 2014 when the coveted part of ‘Michael Jackson' opened up in one of the world's biggest MJ stage productions it was a dream role for Dantanio in more ways than one. As well as allowing him to exercise his music, dance and theatrical skills, this part spoke to him on a personal level.

Dantanio's fascination and connection with Jackson began as a small boy when he was introduced to the King of Pop through his older brother who brought home a copy of Thriller on cassette in 1989. The album had a sound and feel that Dantanio (indeed the world) had never heard before and with his acute musical mind, even at the age of eight, he soon became fixated, stealing his brother's cassette any time he was gone from the house to play it on repeat and teach himself the now-famous choreography. It was when he played the tape to exhaustion and broke it that he was ‘found out' and consequently forced by his brother to show-off the results of his practice with a performance of ‘Billie Jean'. But instead of the jumble of awkwardness that was expected, Dantanio surprised his family with a shockingly astute imitation of the famous song and dance… his talent for impersonation was already evident.

Bryan Ferry
August 9, 2017

Doors 6:00pm | Show 8:00pm
Tickets starting at $59.99
River Cree Entertainment Centre

From his earliest recordings with Roxy Music at the beginning of the 1970s, Bryan Ferry has taken his place as one of the most iconic and innovative artists to emerge in popular music. In his work you hear a vocal and lyrical brilliance that merges the intensity of Lou Reed, the poise of Sinatra and the charisma of Serge Gainsbourg. But then there is something extra - a verve and performance so ultra-modern that it continually breaks new ground.

When Ferry's group Roxy Music first appeared on ‘Top of The Pops' in 1972, performing their debut single, ‘Virginia Plain', their impact was instantaneous. For here was a group which appeared to have taken the history of modern popular music, from French chanson to Elvis to progressive rock, by way of soul and the avant-garde, and fused their different inspirations into a seamless and glittering pure pop moment. More or less overnight, the band's audience was secured - from screaming teenage fans to highbrow rock critics. And in many ways, Ferry's creation of Roxy Music was one of the great statements of Pop Art – with all of the musicians, designers and stylists whom he had brought together combining their talents to make an intoxicating and radically new montage of musical and visual styles.

The Pointer Sisters

Doors 7:00pm | Show 9:00pm
Tickets starting at $34.99
River Cree Entertainment Centre

The Pointer Sisters began their formal vocal training in their father's church, The Church of God in West Oakland, California. They went on to achieve worldwide fame and have secured a place in pop music history as a dynamic female group! Their first performance in Los Angeles at the Troubadour club was hailed by critics for its versatility and range and called The Pointer Sisters "the most exciting thing to hit show business in years." Their 1973 debut album gave us the singles, "Yes We Can, Can," which reached #11 on Billboard magazine's pop singles chart.

The following year, the sisters released That's A Plenty, an album that included a bona-fide country-western tune, "Fairytale," written by the sisters. The single hit big on both the country and pop charts. As a result, the sisters became the first black female group to ever perform at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee. They also became the first contemporary act to perform at the San Francisco Opera House and released a live recording of the performance. In 1975, "Fairytale" won the sisters their first Grammy Award, for Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group with Elvis Presley later covering the tune. That year, the Pointer Sisters released their fourth album for Blue Thumb. Entitled Steppin', the record included "How Long (Betcha Got A Chick On The Side)"; co-written by the sisters, it went top 20 on the pop charts and sailed all the way to #1 on R&B. In 1976, the sisters hit the big screen, joining Richard Pryor in the film, Car Wash. "You Gotta Believe" which was featured on the film's soundtrack, rose up the R&B charts. In 1977, the Pointer Sisters released Having a Party, their last album for Blue Thumb and their last album as a quartet.

Changing their style, the sisters signed with Planet Records and teamed up with Richard Perry, a well-known producer who had previously worked with such artists as Barbara Streisand and Carly Simon. Together, they decided to record a rock 'n roll album. The group's debut single, Bruce Springsteen's "Fire," went all the way to #2 on the pop charts and went gold. Boosted by "Fire," the Energy album was certified gold and went on to spawn another top single with "Happiness".

Boz Scaggs

Doors 7:00pm | Show 9:00pm
Tickets starting at $59.99
River Cree Entertainment Centre

“I’m at a point where I’m having a lot of fun with music, more than ever,” Boz Scaggs says about his spellbinding new album, A Fool to Care. “It’s like I’m just going wherever I want to go with it.”

You can hear that sense of fun, as well as that ability and willingness to wander in any musical direction throughout the album’s twelve tracks. The inspirational heart of those songs lies in the sounds of Texas, Louisiana and Oklahoma that played such a vital role in shaping Scaggs’ musical sensibility, but they venture forth boldly from there, ranging from the seductive New Orleans rumble of the title track to the wry social commentary of “Hell to Pay” and a heartbreakingly wistful interpretation of The Band’s “Whispering Pines.” As he did on his most recent previous album, Memphis (2013), Scaggs worked with producer Steve Jordan and a telepathic core band consisting of Jordan on drums, Willie Weeks on bass, Ray Parker, Jr. on rhythm guitar and Jim Cox on keyboards. “Steve works on a high energy level,” Scaggs says of his prized collaborator. “It’s relaxed and easy, but also very highly charged. His direction is laser-focused, and his playing is intense. It’s a whirlwind and he’s a strong leader, but it’s also lovely and loose and cool. That’s all a comfort to me. I’ve produced myself and I feel pretty solid in the studio, but it’s really nice for me not to have to do anything but help select the material and be free to be a singer and a guitar player.
